Summer Picnic Reminder

What all should I be bringing with me?

  • Either a side or a dessert of your choosing
  • Whatever whatever kegs/growlers/bottles you’d like to share – both club jockey boxes will be there and ready
  • Ice chests/coolers if needed – there’s plenty of space inside and outside the clubhouse if you want to bring one
  • Lawn chairs
  • Lawn games if you’ve got them

Schedule:

  • 12:00-2:00 – gun range available for any interested SODZ members
  • 2:00 – picnic starts
  • 3:00ish – start serving food
  • 5:00 – Iron Kettle judging
  • 9:00 – picnic winds down

Right right now, the forecast is for 85 and sunny. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you there.

It’s Summer Picnic Time!

Who is Invited?
Anyone who is a paid member and their immediate family (significant other/spouse, and kids).

When?
Saturday, August 3th
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Gun Range open for SODZ members
2:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Picnic, etc.

Where?
Central Ohio Anglers and Hunters Club
9593 Roberts Rd
West Jefferson, OH 43162
Google Map Link

Look for the Orange arrows starting at the entrance to guide you back to the club. (Make sure you approach from Olmstead Road, to the Southwest of the club, not from Plain City-Georgesville Road.)

What about Food?
SODZ member Martin Miller will be smoking brats, pulled pork and some veggies. SODZ will provide buns, plates, cutlery, napkins, condiments, etc. and the rest is pot luck. Please bring along either a side or a dessert.

Will there be anything non-alcoholic to drink?
We’ll provide some soft drinks and lots of water, but if you need/want anything specific, please bring that along.

What’s it like there?
The location has tons of space to hang out and a large building to cool off inside. It’s suggested that you bring folding chairs, pop up shelters, bug spray, sun tan lotion, and anything else you require to enjoy hanging around outside. If you have lawn games or other outdoor activities, bring those too. There’s always demand for giant Jenga and cornhole.

What about Beer?
Bring your beer, of course. We will have both club Jockey Boxes, so you can bring kegs. Bring iced coolers with growlers, cans, bottles, or whatever you want. If you have anything that you’ve been saving for a special occasion, interesting bottles have been shared and appreciated in past years.

What about Iron Kettle Beers?
Those who brewed beer at Iron Kettle will be bringing their beer to share and be judged. If you were at Iron Kettle and can’t make it, then make arrangements to have someone else bring your beer.

So wait, it’s at a Gun Club?
It is. There will be shooting from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the club’s 30-yard pistol range and a 100-yard rifle range. If you don’t want to participate or want to avoid it, arrive after 2:00 PM. It’s BYO Gun – there are no rentals. The ranges will be open starting at noon for non-drinking members only and at 2:00 PM we start the party. Reminder – THERE IS NO DRINKING AND SHOOTING AT THE SAME TIME.

What if it rains?
We’ll still have the picnic, but just move it under cover or indoors.
