Thank you to everyone who attended our February meeting at Barley’s! Angelo is always such an excellent host and I know everyone had a great time.
CONGRATS to Brad Reardon for taking home the paddle with his entry for British beers!
A few reminders about upcoming events and activities:
– Next month’s meeting (March 16) is LIKELY to be at Zen Bee meadery in Worthington. This would be ideal since our club competition next month is Meads/Ciders. It’s also worth noting, while I’m not a huge mead fan myself, I have truly enjoyed everything I’ve tried at Zen Bee (and I’ve tried around a dozen there!)
– April meeting (April 20) will be at Honest Friend. This is a new brewery in south Columbus and they are absolutely worth checking out!
– British Beer Fest registration is open. As always, we are also looking for stewards and judges as well as help with set-up. Any and all volunteers earn volunteer points for Volunteer of the Year. British Beer Fest judging will take place April 25 at Parsons North.
– Board nominations/elections – we will handle nominations for the SODZ Board at the March meeting, and elections will be held at the April meeting. New officers will begin their 2 year terms beginning with the May meeting. Serving on the Board is a great way to give back to the club (and have an extra excuse to go grab beers 🙂
– BARLEY’S HOMEBREW COMPETITION is coming soon. Stay tuned for more details, but you should be able to start dropping off your entries (2 bottles per) at Barleys in April. In addition, you can bring your entries to the March or April meetings and we will drop them off for you. This is a FREE competition with an amazing sweet prize of being able to brew your beer at Barleys (easily one of the most amzing brewing days I’ve ever had!). (Said another way, if you have 2 bottles of anything good, you’d be crazy not to enter!). Winner will be announced at Barley’s Afternoon with the Brewers event on May 17 (really, really fun event!)
