Closing Out British Beerfest
Another great British Beerfest has wrapped up! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s event such a success. Congratulations to all of our winners for their outstanding beers and well-deserved recognition – results are here.
Thanks to all of our Judges, Stewards, and Staff, including all the hard work by Scott and Kelly in the weeks leading up to British Beerfest. A special thank you goes out to Parsons North Brewing Company for hosting us this year and providing such a fantastic venue.

Brewer of the Year Standings
The Brewer of the Year leaderboard has been updated with the British Beerfest and NHC first round winners. There are still a few more ways to earn points this club year:
- May Club Competition at Ill Mannered Brewing (Yellow Fizzy Beers)
- NHC Final Round (awarded in June at Homebrew Con)
- Iron Kettle Competition (more coming soon)
Volunteer of the Year Standings
The Volunteer of the Year leaderboard is current through British Beerfest. There is still time to earn points at club events through the Summer Picnic. Here are some ways you can still earn:
- Steward or judge the May Cub Competition or Iron Kettle
- Organize/host an official club event (e.g. the Homebrew Tour)
- Be a guest speaker at a club event
- Take a lead role in organizing the summer picnic
If you have an idea for contributing your time to the club, please reach out to a board member. If you think you are missing points, please reach out to a board member. We are still fine-tuning the data collection for this program.
Homebrew Tour
Our first annual Homebrew Tour is scheduled for this Saturday, May 9th. Space is still available, so please sign up now. This is a good event to bring a brewing-curious friend, as they’ll get to see different homebrew set-ups and talk to various home brewers.
Iron Kettle
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 13th, at 9 am at the new Buckeye BrewCraft location. New this year: there will be electric hook-ups! This is our annual “secret ingredient” competition, which requires participants to brew on site using the same curated kit. We will share more information soon.
Member Pulse Survey
Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey about your homebrewing approach, setup, and interests. Your answers may be shared with Buckeye BrewCraft to help both SODZ and Buckeye BrewCraft better serve our homebrew community.
