Thank you to everyone who came to Brew Brothers for the October meeting on Monday October 19th. Here are a few updates from the meeting along with some upcoming events.
Membership and Dues
The club unanimously voted to increase membership dues at our last meeting. Dues will increase to $25 starting on January 1st 2027. We will be updating our website and the swipe payment page to reflect this.
Upcoming Events
The club will meet November 16 at Campfire Brewing. The November monthly club competition theme will be “Dark side of the Hop”. We want to see how well you brew an underrated style – Red, Brown or Black IPA. BJCP category 21B only. These were once plentiful and now they’re scarce – let’s bring them back. The annual holiday party will take place on December 14 at Combustion Clintonville (note that this is the second Monday, not the third). The January meeting location is currently TBD but the February location will be at Barleys. The Beer 4 Boobs competition is set for Saturday, October 24, at Thunderwing Brewing; members have registration priority and volunteers are needed for fundraising and event-day support.
Learn to Homebrew Day will be on November 7th at Buckeye BrewCraft in Gahanna. Bring your homebrewing set up (gas only) and brew on site or take home wort. Buckeye BrewCraft will also have three exclusive 5 gallon recipe kits to choose from for purchase. There will also be BBQ on site from Two Bros and a Smoker. And for those who enjoy college football there will be a TV with the game on.
Club Projects and Programs
The club now has a discord server that can be accessed through the Discord app and we will have a QR code available for members to scan and sign up. We will be working to build out the site and create category channels such as Dark beers based on members interests. We look forward to SODZ members joining and discussing topics within the focused channels.
For those interested in reserving club owned equipment stay tuned we are working to create a sign out page. This will allow members to see what equipment is available, who reserved equipment and request reservations of equipment such as jockey boxes, brew pots and other club owned equipment.
